Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 25, 2026
ParentMap ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of families who use our platform. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide our educational assessment service:
- Account information: email address and name, collected through our authentication provider (Clerk) when you sign up via Google or email/password.
- Family information: parent name, email, country, and preferred language, which you provide during setup.
- Child information: first names, ages, and curriculum type for each child you add to your account.
- Usage analytics: anonymous page views and feature usage, collected through PostHog to help us improve the platform.
What Data We Store
- Parent profile: name, email, country, and language preference.
- Children profiles: first name, age, curriculum, and avatar seed (randomly generated).
- Test results: subject scores, placement levels, strengths, and areas to improve for each child.
- Quiz history: practice quiz answers, scores, and progress for each child.
Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted services to operate ParentMap:
- Clerk — Authentication and user account management.
- Supabase — Secure database for storing family data, test results, and quiz history.
- PostHog — Anonymous product analytics to understand how families use the platform.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — Generates personalized practice quiz questions based on skills that need improvement. No personal data is sent to the AI; only subject and skill identifiers.
- Resend — Sends transactional emails such as weekly quiz reminders.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is stored as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time from the Settings page in your dashboard. When you delete your data, all family information, children profiles, test results, and quiz history are permanently removed from our database. This action cannot be undone.
Abuse Prevention
To protect the free tier from misuse and to keep the platform sustainable, we store non-reversible salted identifiers derived from your email address and from your child's first name and approximate age. These derived identifiers cannot be used to recover the original information. They let us detect when the same child or the same email has already used a free assessment, without storing raw personal data for that purpose. This processing is disclosed here in accordance with Colombia's Ley 1581 de 2012.
Children's Privacy
ParentMap is designed for use by parents and guardians, not directly by children. All accounts are created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. In compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), parental consent is required for all data related to minors. We only store children's first names and ages — no email addresses, photos, or other identifying information for children.
Colombia Data Protection
For users in Colombia, we comply with Ley 1581 de 2012 (Habeas Data) and its regulatory decrees. You have the right to know, update, rectify, and delete your personal data. You can exercise these rights by contacting us or using the delete function in your account settings. ParentMap acts as the data controller (Responsable del Tratamiento) for all personal data collected through the platform.
